Your initial consultation will consist of filling out a detailed questionnaire regarding your presenting health complaint and once complete I will ask you some detailed questions relating to your condition.
I will then formulate a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) diagnosis for your presenting complaint which directs me to the correct acupuncture points suited to your condition.
Ultra fine single use, sterilized, acupuncture needles are then used to stimulate the selected points. The acupuncture needles are left in place for up to 30 minutes and depending on your health complaint additional therapies may also be included, such as: Moxabustion, Cupping, trigger point or/and Bowen therapy
There is no additional charges for the use of additional therapies: these are included in your treatment plan.
I may also recommend certain supplements to complement your treatment however I try to keep this to a minimum as the cost of quality supplements can become expensive.
Follow up appointments are scheduled for 3 to-5 days (depending on the individual case) later to continue your treatment and discuss your progression from your initial consultation.
Generally, patients feel a benefit from acupuncture within 2-3 treatments, however some patients can take a little longer to respond and some respond very quickly, such as after the first session.
However for chronic health related conditions a series of acupuncture treatments are standard and this can vary between 8-12 appointments, acupuncture is known to have an accumulative effect, which means that each treatment builds on the next for continued improved and lasting results.
Regardless of your medically diagnosed condition acupuncture and natural medicine has something to offer.
